Tiffany-inspired Stained Glass Lampshades
As I’ve mentioned in previous blogs, I have a knack for upcycling materials that catch my eye—restoring, repurposing, or retrofitting them whenever possible. I like to call this creative quirk "Pickupitis."

A few years ago, two good friends who know my passion for salvaging gifted me a pair of vintage Tiffany-style bronze lamp bases they rescued from the side of the road. Recently, I finally dedicated the time (about 30 hours from concept to completion) to custom design and craft matching stained glass lampshades for these beautiful bases.
This project highlights the seamless integration of stained glass art techniques, featuring intricate custom glass designs paired with a striking combination of textured and smooth glass. The process involved meticulous glass cutting and copper foil soldering, resulting in a unique pair of lampshades that radiate both elegance and artistry.
The shades stand 7 1/2" tall, measure 2 3/4" square at the top, and expand to 10" square at the bottom. These stained glass lights are a testament to the creativity that comes from blending traditional craft with a love for DIY stained glass projects.
This lampshade project is another example of how upcycling can transform discarded items into timeless pieces of functional art.
