WoodenGlass Art
Gary Beckett, a resident of Victoria, BC, finds solace and creative fulfillment in his home-based studio, where he crafts intricate wood, stained glass, and transformational art. By day, he navigates the digital realm as an IT Architect, sculpting intangible, ethereal computer solutions, but when the sun sets and on weekends, he transforms into an artist/craftsman, fueled by a fervent passion for woodworking and stained glass.
His affinity for woodworking traces back to his early years, working in his father's woodshop and then furthered his craft through intensive courses in his early years and later pursued a Fine Furniture program in College. With two years immersed in Native Art studies under the guidance of local artist Victor Newman, his appreciation for wood-craft expanded and shaped his artistic journey.
Later on, Gary delved into the intricate world of stained glass, mastering both foil and came techniques.
Driven by a relentless creative spirit, Gary aspires to showcase and sell his wood and stained-glass creations whenever opportunity knocks. During lulls in projects, he scours the shoreline during leisurely dog walks, seeking inspiration in the organic forms of driftwood. On urban streets, discarded treasures catch his eye, beckoning for rejuvenation, retrofitting, or reimagining.
With each piece he creates, Gary intertwines craftsmanship with imagination, transforming raw materials into timeless works of art.
